How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 Using PwnageTool 4.3

1. Download iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone , iPod Touch & iPad
2. Download PwnageTool 4.3 for Mac OS X
3. Now start PwnageToool 4.3 and click on OK on Copyright warning

4. Now click on Expert Mode and select device from the list and click on blue arrow icon
5. Now select browse option & click on blue arrow icon to browse and select iOS 4.3.1 IPSW file and click on open and let pwnagetool verify IPSW file


6. At this stage PwnageTool will display set of option, You may use custom package or cydia package to add new package to custom firmware or go to General options to select/deselect options like multitasking, wallpaper or batter percentage.

7. Once you done the changes click on build option and click on blue arrow icon.

8. At this stage PwnageTool 4.3 will ask you location to save iOS 4.3.1 custom IPSW file. click on save button to proceed for building custom firmware for iOS 4.3.1.


9.  Enter your password when pwnagetool asks you.

10. Now connect device to USB when PwnageTool 4.3 prompts you.

11. Now follow on screen instructions to to put your device o DFU mode
1. Press Power & home button togather for 10 seconds
2. Now release power button continue holding home button for 15 seconds.

12. Pwnagetool will let you know once your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad is in DFU mode.

13. Now start iTunes & select device from the list.
14. Now press Option key and click on restore button to browse and select custom iOS 4.3.1 created using PwnageTool 4.3.


15. Now site back and relax while iTunes performs restore process, your iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad will reboot once iTunes completes the restoring firmware.

Redsn0w 0.9.6rc10 to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 Released, Now Supports Boot Animations

Early we had reported about Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 release which has support for chronic dev’s boot animations and also several other bug fixes. Now here is an updated version of Redsn0w 0.9.6rc10 from dev team.
iPhone Dev Team has also added  support boot animations and removed some unnecessary settings which were leading to confusion. Here is what iPhone Dev team says,

Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad).   Release rc10 of redsn0w corrects that (you can just run it over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).
Along the way, we’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation (and again, you can just run rc10 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4.2.1 with GreenPois0n on Windows

Recently, I got iPod Touch and like any other Apple Device owner wanted to jailbreak it to remove restrictions and install unsigned / cracked apps. So, I selected GreenPois0n to jailbreak my iPod touch 4G with iOS 4.2.1 and here we go with the procedure.
1. Download GreenPois0n – RC 6 is latest at the moment.
2. Power Off iPod and connect it via USB.
3. Launch the GreenPois0n.exe and to put your device into DFU mode, follow procedure with timings.
* Press and hold the sleep button for 2 seconds
* While holding Sleep button, press and hold Home button for 10 seconds
* Release the Sleep button but continue holding Home button for 15 second

4. Press on Jailbreak as soon as it detects your device in DFU Mode when it is ready to Jailbreak.

5. GreenPois0n will start jailbreaking your device and Soon, your device will show something like Boot Screen. Wait till the Tool says Jailbreak Completed.

iPod will restart itself and you’ll notice that boot logo is no more the apple logo. It means Jailbreak successful.

On Homescreen, there will be an icon named Loader from where you can install Cydia.
After installing Cydia, you can opt for adding Sources to get Installous that allows to install cracked apps.

How to Jailbreak iPod 4G iOS 4.3.1 using RedSn0w on Windows – Tutorial

We have already seen the tutorial of iPod 4.2.1 Jailbreak using GreenPois0n and here I share a tutorial on How to Jailbreak iPod 4G 4.3.1 iOS using RedSn0w tool on Windows.
What all you need?

1. iPod 4G 4.3.1 Firmware from Apple – iPod4,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw
2. Redsn0w tool for Windows

Place these downloaded file into one folder and extract redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc9.zip there itself.
This process includes upgrading firmware of iPod 4G from 4.2.1 to 4.3.1 using Restore option in iTunes. Then Jailbreaking it using Redsn0w for Windows.
Remember, Restoring will erase all data on iPod so make sure you sync Music and Apps from iPod using iTunes to your desktop.
Let’s begin with Firmware upgrade to iOS 4.3.1 using Restore.
Connect iPod to iTunes and on Summary tab, Press Shift button and click on Restore button. Browse to the folder and select iPod4_1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw file. iTunes will now erase all data, verify integrity with Apple online and device will be restored to Factory settings.

iPod will restart and you will have to sync with the backup already stored on desktop. You are now done with iPod 4G firmware upgrade to iOS 4.3.1

Here, we start with iPod 4G 4.3.1 Jailbreak using RedSn0w.

1. Connect iPod via USB and Power off the device.
2. Open redsn0w.exe using Run As Administrator if on Windows 7.
   
3. Browse the same firmware file and press NEXT to prepare Jailbreak Data
   
4. Select Jailbreak option by checking infront of specified Feature. Make sure Cydia is selected and click the Next button to continue.
   
5. Enter Device into DFU mode following the instruction on window.
6. Redsn0w will detect DFU mode and Jailbreak will start.
   
7. Rest of the process will start on your device which will look something like this:

Tango is quite new application and my favorite just because of its simplicity. You don’t need to make a profile either; you just install Tango, start it up and you’re ready to make video calls. Tango scans your Contacts and find friends who are already using Tango or you can also invite some from Address Book.
Tango works over both Wi-Fi and 3G and connects iOS (iPhone and iPod Touch) and Android devices. It’s easy to turn video on and off during a Tango call. Also, you can switch between Front Facing and Rear Facing Camera during calls. Visit Tango
I tried it on Airtel EDGE, Video Calling works but continuous streaming is problem, you get Still image many a times so 3G or WiFi is recommended.

Fring

Fring is another popular application which is also available for Nokia / Symbian Devices. Fring enables video calls between iOS and Android devices and works over 3G, but it requires you to create a profile and is a little more complex than Tango. Visit Fring

Qik

Qik allows you to connect over 3G and WiFi and works for both Android and iOS devices. As of now, Video Chat feature is limited to few Mobile Devices. Along with Video Calling, it supports Video Sharing called as Video Mail which are uploaded to your Qik Account. Visit Qik.
Data Charges apply as per your plan but still I would say it is far cheaper than Video Call rates implemented by Mobile Networks.
